Having finally found an available slot in the conservation area of AirSpace the BAC1-11 was moved into the hangar on Tuesday January 6th. The aircraft is being prepared and painted in a 10 day window by a team of enthusiastic DAS volunteers who have committed themselves to finish the work on time before handing the area back to the IWM on January 16th.
The immediate priority is to complete the paintwork whilst under cover but British Airways will be providing the decals for installation later to ensure the aircraft is accurately restored to its former livery.
Maintaining our aircraft is a continuous process and Duxford Aviation Society are seeking donations and/or sponsorship to re-paint the upper fuselages on their Vickers VC10 and H.S Trident during the summer.
